Endurance GB   2017   Sunday 9th April

St Clere (Unvetted) Pleasure Ride

2017 – This will be a Pink ride -  profits will be shared between EGB SE and advances in treatment of Breast Cancer at the Empress Unit at the local Darent Valley Hospital and The Haven in London.

Since being diagnosed with invasive cancer in 2014 this is very close to my heart and we continue to raise funds for advancements that may help many of us (or those close to us)

The ride will take place on the magical St Clere Estate     www.stclere.com by courtesy of landowner Eliza Ecclestone.

The Venue

The venue for 2017 will be off St Clere Hill Road.  The postcode is TN15 6AH.   This is approx. 1 mile off the A20.  We have permission to use a large grass field enabling us to have a larger number of participants this year.

The routes

I am currently planning new routes and I will have full details by 7th March 2017
I am currently working on developing:-
Class 1  32km (20 miles)

Please email me if you are able to help.  JudithAnneYarnold@outlook.com

I will be organising a raffle on the day and I am looking for prizes for this (all proceeds to Empress Unit and The Haven)

Cheques to be made payable to “Endurance GB SE”

Lots of variety; You will ride on the North Downs plus headlands and tracks. There will be very little roadwork and there maybe a couple of gates.  All classes will have some tarmac on the farm drives.

Lovely views and some nice canter stretches. Not flat ride …thus great for conditioning; a couple of steep climbs (beware of a few flints and typical downland chalky soil with potential for rabbit holes)

Important   No crewing at all on course – water will be available at  two checkpoints.

Useful Information if this is your first EGB ride.

What should the rider wear?

There is no need to wear shirt, tie and hacking jacket. Most folk wear jodhpurs or breeches of any colour, polo shirt/sweat shirt/ rugby shirt / fleece and perhaps a gillet. Jodhpur boots or boots with a ½” heel and a riding hat which conforms to standard PAS015/BSEN/1384/EN1384/ASTM/SEI with kite mark. Your whip should be no longer than 75cm

Does my horse need special tack?

No special endurance tack is required. Your horse must be ridden in recognised form of bridle, with or without a bit. You may not use a headcollar, blinkers, draw-reins, Market Harborough or similar schooling aid. Any suitable saddle may be used. Numnahs, saddle blankets and girth guards may be used. If in doubt,

please ask. It is a good idea to have a map holder with your map and talk round inside, carry a hoof pick and perhaps a water bottle.

Will you send me further information?

Yes approx one week before the event you will be sent the map and further instructions.

In the meantime if this is your first EGB Endurance ride I suggest you read the articles on the SE EGB web site.     http://www.endurancegbsoutheast.co.uk/html/articles.asp

No crewing at all on course – water will be available at checkpoints.

Help required.

Any offers of help will be gratefully received. These rides could not run without volunteers.

Please contact us ASAP if you are able to help on the day with one of the following:-

  • Directing and controlling the parking
  • Stewarding road crossings
  • Manning check points

Thank you in advance for any offers that we receive.

This is the second time that the Ecclestone family have offered the St Clere Estate as a venue (and only the second time that we, Judith and G, have organized a ride) Would you like to help us make this a really super day.
